The 5G METEORS First Open Call (OC1) included five topics, as follows
- Realtime Software Defined Radio 5G New Radio over Satellite – Lower Layers
- Realtime Software Defined Radio – 5G New Radio over Satellite on higher Protocol Layers (PDCP/RLC)
- Feasibility Study on Demonstration of 3GPP New Radio over Satellite
- Broadcast and Multicast Demonstration in 5G Context
- Demonstration of satellite terrestrial integration in 5G at a high visibility 5G focused event
In the following, we provide a summary of the activities proposed and contracted as a result of the First Open Call.
5G METEORS OC1 Topic 1 – Realtime Software Defined Radio 5G New Radio over Satellite – Lower Layers
Two activities were contracted for this topic, 5G-EmuSat – 5G New Radio Emulation over Satellite by Fraunhofer IIS and 5G Physical layers with real-time satellite communication demonstrator by Airbus Defence and Space GmbH.
5G METEORS OC1 Topic 2 – Realtime Software Defined Radio – 5G New Radio over Satellite on higher Protocol Layers (PDCP/RLC)
No activities were contracted for this topic.
5G METEORS OC1 Topic 3 – Feasibility Study on Demonstration of 3GPP New Radio over Satellite
Two activities were contracted for this topic, GeoLoRa – LoRa Connectivity Using GEO Satellites by NEOSAT GmbH and 5G-SATNR-4CAM – Demonstrating 5G satellite connectivity to support Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) by Airbus Defence and Space GmbH.
5G METEORS OC1 Topic 4 – Broadcast and Multicast Demonstration in 5G Context
One activity was contracted for this topic, 5G NTN MCBC – 5G Non-Terrestrial-Networks Broadcast and Multicast Demonstration by Nomor Research GmbH.
5G METEORS OC1 Topic 5 – Demonstration of satellite terrestrial integration in 5G at a high visibility 5G focused event
Two activities were contracted under this topic, SAT for 5G IEEE WF19 – Demonstration of Satellite Terrestrial Integration in 5G at the IEEE 5G WORLD FORUM 2019 in Dresden, Germany by the Bundeswehr University Munich and the MWC DEMO – 5G Satellite demonstration at the Mobile World Congress by Fraunhofer IIS and Nomor Research GmbH.
